What it is

A 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protein found in gastric juice. People take it in hope of speeding the healing of tendon, joint, muscle, and gut lining.

Who's asking

Active-agers and athletes with stubborn soft-tissue injuries, and people with gut issues that conventional care hasn't resolved. Interest is high; marketing is louder than the evidence.

What we still don't know

Evidence grade D: animal-dominant, fewer than 30 humans studied, and no placebo-controlled efficacy trials. WADA-banned (S0). We don't make healing claims it hasn't earned.

On July 23, 2026 the FDA advisory committee (PCAC) voted to recommend it for the 503A compounding list, against FDA staff advice, a recommendation, not approval or availability. The Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed peptides including BPC-157 on July 23–24, 2026, and on July 23 voted to recommend it for the 503A list. That recommendation is advisory: FDA rulemaking must follow before it can be compounded for patients. We'll publish the outcome on the Tracker.
